GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is a zine?
A zine is a collection of stories and artwork following a particular theme.What charity will the profits from the zine go to?
Contributors will vote on the charity they'd like the profits from the zine to go to. Once it's been decided, it will be announced before sales open.Why not print the zine if you're going to have physical merch anyways?
There are two main reasons for this choice:
1) Zines are the most expensive item to produce, and the fandom is relatively quiet, these days.
2) Because this is a NSFW project, print restrictions and censorship laws make it difficult to both manufacture the zine and ship it widely.Will you be able to ship everywhere?
Most likely, a few countries will be off limits for shipping due to sanctions and instability outside of our control, but we'll offer the widest shipping we can.Is there any chance of a physical zine or second volume?
If our merch sales are strong enough, we may consider a physical zine or sequel.

CONTRIBUTOR QUESTIONS

Are there any application requirements? Do I need experience?
Not at all! We only ask that you be 18+ and either have a Discord account already, or be willing to create one for the duration of the project.Will the mod team have space for mod interns/trainees?
The zine will not be taking mod interns/trainees, however, first time mod applicants are welcome.How many contributor spots will be available? How many will go to guests?
Exact numbers are still being decided, but regardless, the majority of zine spots will go to applicants and not guests.Will contributors be compensated?
Contributors are guaranteed to receive a full digital pack featuring all zines and merch. Sales permitting, we also aim to provide all contributors with a full merch bundle, with free shipping.

CONTENT QUESTIONS

What types of fanworks will be included in the zine?
The zine will include fanfics, drabbles, articles/interviews, page illustrations, spot art, comics and cover art!How prevalently should the theme of beach volleyball feature in each work?
As long as beach volleyball features in some capacity, it does not need to be the focus of the work. Your characters can be on a beach vacation, at a summer training camp, playing pro, or just about anything else you can think of!Will AUs be allowed in the zine?
Absolutely! However, we will not be allowing AUs that change the fundamental mechanics of the universe, such as A/B/O or Soulmate AUs, nor franchise-specific AUs, such as Marvel AUs or Harry Potter AUs.Will there be any ship or dynamic restrictions?
Not at all! All ships are welcome, in any form.Will the NSFW and Dead Dove content be separate? Will they be in the same zine?
We will have separate NSFW and Dead Dove zines.NSFW and Dead Dove can both mean a lot of things, what qualifies?
For the purposes of this zine, NSFW will be defined as sexual content rated M or E, and Dead Dove will be defined as sexual content featuring topics that are typically considered triggering and/or transgressive.Will there be any content restrictions?
The NSFW zine will ask that all characters be at least canon-age, and that you avoid more extreme content, such as non-con and the like. The Dead Dove zine will be unrestricted.Will the merch also be NSFW/DD?
We'll have to wait and see what our merch artists pitch!

APPLICATIONS OPEN JUNE 1ST, 2025

REQUIREMENTS

General Requirements• 18+ years old
• Discord account through which to join the zine server
• Haikyuu!! samples encouraged, but not required
• Portfolios optional
• All samples must be DIRECT LINKS
• If using google docs, please ensure SHARING PERMISSIONS ARE TURNED ON, if we cannot access your samples, your application will be disregarded
• DO NOT USE LINKS THAT EXPIRE, i.e. no Discord linksWriter Application Requirements• 3 writing samples: 1.5k-2.5k each, 1 of which must be complete & stand-alone
•At least 1 sample must be NSFW and/or Dead DoveWriter Zine Expectations• 2k-3k fic
• Fic will be fully beta-read by mods, edits must be addressed before each subsequent check-in
• Fic must be written specifically for the zine and cannot have been previously publishedArtist Application Requirements• 3 samples in the style you'd like to use for the zine
• At least 1 sample must be NSFW and/or Dead DoveArtist Zine Expectations• 1 fully rendered full-page or spread illustration, OR a 4-8 page comic
• Your artwork must be made specifically for the zine, and cannot have been shared publicly beforehandMerch Artist Application Requirements• 3-5 samples of merch art
• If you've previously created physical merch, we highly encourage you to submit it as a sample
• Optional soft-pitchesMerch Artist Zine Expectations• 2-3 separate merch items, depending on complexity
• Your artwork must be made specifically for the zine, and cannot have been shared publicly beforehand
